Pisces Super Moon Invites You to Expand Your Mind, Feel Fully & Dream

I really have never known exactly how to describe the unique calling card that is Pisces. After years of honing my relationship with her through the cycles and friendships that carry this sign, the best I can do is just admit to not-knowing. Pisces is so much more than can be known in the human world. She is the last of all the signs. Her mutable water signature offers an immersion of all the elements and yet a dissolution to the cycle. She is where it all ends and begins; and that mystery will always be murky to the human brain.

Pisces is vague and abstract and yet there is nothing dull about these qualities. If you allow yourself to simply “feel” her, particularly in the heightened states of sensitivity such as dreaming, trance or art, she is bright, vivid, and colorful. But when you try to explain her, there really are no words. Water signs in general invite us into the emotional realms and Pisces is beyond the simple feelings like “sad,” “mad,” “happy.” She not only encompasses all the other astrological signs, but she also stores all the possible emotions. Pisces is a paradox, beyond time, beyond linear thought and verbal description.

As the super moon waxes to full this weekend (“Super” meaning the moon is closer to the earth than usual) you may find yourself overwhelmed by feelings. You may find yourself unable to express or explain what you are feeling or what it might mean. Big changes have been stirred up as we move towards the next full moon, the final total lunar eclipse in a rare series, and more is being revealed. It is hard to tell if these revelations are happening too fast or not fast enough, and actually, it’s probably a bit of both. Pisces doesn’t make sense, and many things in the “rational” world might appear not to, either.

The best place to find the support and healing available at this time is in un-seen and un-known spaces. Take time to immerse and cleanse in the water element. Allow the touch of water to move you out of the left/logical brain and drop into the right/intuitive hemisphere. Once you have been submerged, open yourself to the Piscean territory via trance, meditation or dreaming. If none of those practices are part of your life, this is a good time to welcome them.

Trance can be created by drumming or listening to drums, dancing with abandon, or even a doing a craft like painting with water colors. Meditative states can be achieved by sitting under the moon with the breath, just watching it rise and fall. Dreaming may come without our invitation, but you can encourage more awareness of your dream states by burning or bathing in mugworts or frankincense before you go to sleep, taking time to breathe deeply and being open to guidance. Whatever state you choose, it is best to write down what comes up, as Pisces visions can fade fast.

Most of all, just try to relax into the unknown. It is okay if your answer to all things this week is “I don’t know.” I do trust more clarity is coming. But for now, let Pisces do what Pisces does, and just settle into her whirlpool of all things new and old, all things felt and un-seen. She is the wise elder. She is not limited by the constructs of our society because she knows all things pass and all things return. We can do well to honor her truth, and our own, with all of the paradox and uncertainty.

I offer my favorite invocation, translated by the earth activist, writer and Pagan teacher, Starhawk. You might feel called to read it out as you start your Pisces ritual, or any time you feel like you need to surrender to the mystery:

Charge of the Goddess

Traditional by Doreen Valiente, as adapted by Starhawk:

Listen to the words of the Great Mother, Who of old was called Artemis, Astarte, Dione, Melusine, Aphrodite, Cerridwen, Diana, Arionrhod, Brigid, and by many other names:

Whenever you have need of anything, once a month, and better it be when the moon is full, you shall assemble in some secret place and adore the spirit of Me Who is Queen of all the Wise.

You shall be free from slavery, and as a sign that you be free you shall be naked in your rites.

Sing, feast, dance, make music and love, all in My Presence, for Mine is the ecstasy of the spirit and Mine also is joy on earth.

For My law is love is unto all beings. Mine is the secret that opens the door of youth, and Mine is the cup of wine of life that is the cauldron of Cerridwen, that is the holy grail of immortality.

I give the knowledge of the spirit eternal, and beyond death I give peace and freedom and reunion with those that have gone before.

Nor do I demand aught of sacrifice, for behold, I am the Mother of all things and My love is poured out upon the earth.

Hear the words of the Star Goddess, the dust of Whose feet are the hosts of Heaven, whose body encircles the universe:

I Who am the beauty of the green earth and the white moon among the stars and the mysteries of the waters,

I call upon your soul to arise and come unto me.

For I am the soul of nature that gives life to the universe.

From Me all things proceed and unto Me they must return.

Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices, for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals.

Let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honor and humility, mirth and reverence within you.

And you who seek to know Me, know that the seeking and yearning will avail you not, unless you know the Mystery: for if that which you seek, you find not within yourself, you will never find it without.

For behold, I have been with you from the beginning, and I am That which is attained at the end of desire.

Love, blessings and sweet dreams,

Bekah
