Cancer Full Moon December 28, 2012 – 2:21 am PST
Wounds are a funny thing. As is the healing process. Some wounds hurt way more during the healing process than at the moment of injury. We have all had that experience, whether dealing with the after effects of a sting or poison plant, the mending of bones, the itchiness of a scab trying to form or making it through the days that follow the loss of a loved one.
Yet the healing occurs all the same.
This full moon in Cancer is like that.
Cancer is ruled by the moon herself, the cardinal emotional sign, big mama ocean and grandmother Moon. Usually Cancer brings nurturing and a desire for comfort. She is a healer, the mama who sweetly tends to our hurts.
But as we come out of a highly charged, transformational year that was filled with hurts of all kinds, hurts that can ultimately change our lives and the world for the better. But hurts, nonetheless, and in order to become useful, these wounds have to heal.
This full moon can help us heal, but it might not feel good. It actually might feel worse than the original experience. But we need to allow the wounds of 2012 to heal so we can begin 2013 whole.
There are few things more powerful than a wounded healer, one who has been hurt, healed and can now help others heal themselves. We all have that potential. It shines down through the beams of Cancer full moon light.
What wounds are still open in your body, mind, spirit or emotions? Offer them up to grandmother moon, imagine them being washed in her healing waters, salty as they may be. Cry, yell, swear, express the hurts of healing, knowing you are held.
Let the healing begin. It is worth the pain. Our healed wounds are our greatest assets.
Love and healing blessings to you all. May we all face our hurts and be restored under this sacred moon.
