Gemini New Moon ~ Balance Your Mind: Write, Touch, Invert

There are few forces stronger than our thoughts. Or so it seems. The mind can be overpowering, overwhelming, it can destroy and create. It can delude and set free. Without our brain, we have no life, and yet, it can be manipulated and altered like any other tool.

Few signs experience the duality of the mind like Gemini. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, planet of communication, travel, and technology. Gemini vibrates with the energy of Mutable air, dissolving the mental realms. Mutable signs appear just before the change of season to break down the old and create space for the new. After the grounded spring earthly reign of Taurus, Gemini moves us out of body and into the brain before the emotional Cancerian summer begins.

The traditional astrological symbol for Gemini is the twins and Gem’s have long had the bad rep of being flaky or two-faced. But the truth is, when balanced, Gemini, better than any other sign, understands how to navigate the world of opposites, and especially now, as these opposites contain such quick moving technology within a fast-paced, changing world.

Time is flying by and we are so overstimulated that it is hard to think. Our brains are being re-structured by constant texts, tweets and three dimensional screens. Some say the next generation will be incapable of reading an entire book! Not to mention the fact that millions of children are being diagnosed along the autism spectrum, which clearly shows the neuro-diversity of our times. Plus, all of our environmental factors,  threats and shifts are certainly having an effect on the mind/body/spirit and future of the planet.

The world is changing and if our minds don’t change with it, in a positive, sustainable, holistic way, it is terrifying to imagine what life will be like in the next decades. Now is the time to start taking action to balance the mind, break down negative patterns, thoughts, habits and beliefs, and prepare for a body/mind/planet aligned consciousness that can lead us to a brighter future.

Enter, Gemini, whose ruling planet goes retrograde one week into this cycle. Mercury retrograde in Gemini season is the shift we have been looking for to get us thinking in a new way! As we decompress from the wild horsey ride that has been 2014 thus far, and head into another action-packed half, I hope you have had the ability to do some soul searching. I hope you have taken out the Scorpionic trash, honored the Taurus body, activated the Aries flame and harmonized the Libra heart. Now it’s time to change the Gemini mind.

How can you see the world in a new way?

Geminis love Yoga, an ancient practice that brings mind and body together through breath. One of the things we love most (Yes, I am a solar Gemini, if you somehow could not tell 😉 is going upside down. This does not have to be the crazy feat you imagine, simply settling into a downward dog, forward fold or putting legs up a chair or wall will suffice. Going upside down is not only physically beneficial (it aids digestion, immunity, blood flow/circulation, musculature, spinal function and more), but it literally changes our perception. It turns the world upside down, resets the nervous systems and gives the brain more blood and oxygen. Spending some conscious time upside down is a great way to detox the old and create space for a fresh perspective. A regular yoga practice is the perfect antidote to our western lifestyle and cultivates balance, clarity, compassion and more joy in our lives.

Another great way to utilize Gemini is through the hands. Go out and touch and be touched. Play with crystals, plants, stones, massage, reiki or any kind of compassionate or creative hands on work. When we touch, so many areas of the brain are activated.

Writing is a third option that offers many gems… daily journaling and gratitude, writing out goals or charged visualizations, blogging on topics you are passionate about, as well as drawing, painting, collaging, knitting, sewing, all have powerful effects on the brain and the way we see the world.

Reading is the twin sibling of writing, and when done together, they are an unstoppable paradigm shifting duo. Read a good book, take an online course, read a daily mediation, but try to read things that are empowering, educational and inspiring. Then, write how you feel, what comes up, take notes, share your notes. Read read read!

And of course, it would not be Gemini if we did not talk. Oh, how we love to talk. But especially about what we love. Have good conversations, in person, over the phone, over email, over skype. Reach out to the people that empower, educate and inspire you. Reach out the those who are like-minded, that have similar goals and passions, reach out to those you love.

We can use this Gemini cycle to turn the inevitable global changes to positive, healthy, loving, creative, community-based ones, or we can continue to think and do the same things we have done, little more than robots in our technological world that runs the same from one day to the next. Duality is human life, duality is the human mind, the right and left hemisphere. But Gemini is Queen of duality, and can balance these opposites with fun, functional, sustainable magic.

Many blessings for a brilliant and bountiful Gemini season!

Love,

Bekah
