Aquarius New Moon ~ Wednesday February 18th 2015 at 3:47 am PST
It is so interesting to me when the moon signs line up in such a way that we get to experience 2 new moons in a row in the same sign. The first Aquarius new moon, back in January, was very new into Aquarius, whereas the second, coming up this Wednesday 2/18, is in the very last degrees, moving into Pisces 10 seconds or so after the new moon is exact.
This can feel kind of confusing, as both sun and moon enter Pisces on the 18th and the month ahead is technically Pisces ruled. But I find that when the universe plays these cards, it is an opportunity for us to look at things differently, and as Aquarius carries Uranus’ “Think outside the box” lighting quick challenger vibe, perhaps it is an invitation to keep on our toes through the watery realms of the winter’s final cycle.
We have come out of Mercury retrograde in Aquarius, and are steadily heading towards spring equinox and some powerful alignments to activate our powers of manifestation. Pisces is usually a cumulative time where all the elements and energies of the last year come together to remind us that we are all one. The dream and material worlds collide and it is a period of deep introspection, intuition and healing before Aries ignites the vernal fire. And we will still get to explore all things Pisces, throughout the month and at the next new moon, (which falls on the spring equinox and is again in the last degrees of Pisces before Aries takes over) which will still solidify the intent.
It is energetically fascinating that this pattern will carry on for several cycles, giving us a taste of the last sign of the previous cycle in the new moon ahead. When I meditate on what this means for February/March, I come up with the word “connection.” What needs to connect from this cycle to the next? What is the connection between Aquarius and Pisces? What is the connection between the start of Aquarius and the end? All things celestial have degrees, and when something is in the early degrees, there is freshness, lightness, like the waxing phase of the moon. In the later degrees, there is wisdom, heaviness, and a release, like in the waning time.
What new thought or idea came through for you in January? Were you able to stick with it and follow it through? Has it matured, changed, gotten deeper? Did your original intent lead to something different, unexpected? What is the connection? How can you make that connection?
What do you think of when you think of connecting? Aquarius is mental and Pisces is emotional, so perhaps we start there. How can you connect your emotions to your mind? Aquarius is about the high mind, the global consciousness and Pisces is mystical dreaming. What is the link between your conscious mind and unconscious? Between the global unconscious and conscious?
We often hear in new age circles that this is a time of waking up on the collective level. These links between new moons feel like gifts in this process. But we have to be willing to ask the questions and seek the connections.
This new moon, honor your intuition; engage in tasks that support the high mind and the deep unconscious. Write, paint, and get into nature. Meditate, alone or with a group, keep a dream journal and perhaps share your dreams with your like-minded circles. We have to find the connections on all levels, within and without, above and below.
I feel like Aquarius and Pisces, as well as many other signs and guides are working together, right now, to show us something that can take us to the next level in all realms. But only we, you, me, us, can make the connection.
Praying for wisdom, compassion and healing connections in the month ahead,
