This week’s post is the first in a 4-part series of little lessons I learned while hiking up Cathedral Rock, my favorite vortex in Sedona. The hike is a vigorous, steep 30-40 minutes journey up the most photographed rock formation in Sedona. It’s breathtaking. Cathedral feels like the great mother to me. She challenges you but always in a very supportive way. When you get to the “saddle,” you feel cradled in her arms. There, the organ-pipe looking rocks that inspired her name, feel like they are bending over you protectively.
My partner, Ross, and I hike Cathedral often, and I have found that every time I go up I seem to learn a little lesson. So I made this mini 4-part video series of “Lessons I Learned From Cathedral Rock.” All the videos capture the healing, feminine energy of Cathedral. See if you can feel into each one and take the energy in.
This first video focuses on honoring others – those who have come before you and have so much to teach you. In NLP, we have a term called “modeling” which is amazingly simple and yet so often forgotten. The concept of modeling is this: find someone who is where you want to be or good at something you want to be good at, and simply model them. Break down what they are doing, and do it yourself — with reverence and appreciation.
This video also focuses on those who come after you, because you are the one teaching or influencing them. You honor them when you leave a legacy that makes the world a better place. And I’m not just talking about a life legacy here. I’m talking about the “footprint” you leave every day wherever you go. Do you leave each person and place you connect with a little elevated by your presence?
I hope so, because if we all live that way, the planet will be healthier, more joyous and more peaceful.
Xoxo,
Vicki
